SayPro Mental Health Awareness Raising and Patient identification:

  • SayPro identifies mental or emotional disorders cases through patient screening at the health facility level and follow up and monitor the referred cases, both internal and external ones.
  • SayPro trains the medical team and the Community Health Workers to identify and refer patients.
  • SayPro Organize training to increase awareness around Mental Health PSS within the team (health staff, Community Health Workers).
  • SayPro Support the clients Medical Activity Manager (MAM) to organize a Mental Health _GAP training for all the health team and Community Health Workers.

SayPro Mental Health Referral:

  • SayPro develops a referral pathway for patients in need of different levels of Mental Health care (for patients coming from the community, from other members of the health team, from other actors).
  • SayPro Mental Health Patient management for patients affected by mild to moderate Mental Health conditions:
  • SayPro evaluates and assesses patients’ psychological conditions and engages in individual counselling using the WHO Problem Management Plus (PM+) in a culturally acceptable manner.
  • SayPro train other health staff in performing PM+, and provide ongoing (weekly) on-site clinical supervision to empower the team to run consultations autonomously in time. Training will also include topics such as effective communication, patient-medical staff relationship, and patient confidentiality.

SayPro Mental Health Patient management for patients affected by severe Mental Health conditions:

  • SayPro refers patients to the General Practitioners at the health facility, who will treat the patient in collaboration with a psychiatrist.
  • SayPro promptly identifies potential medications side effects and flag them to the General Practitioners and psychiatrist.

SayPro Mental Health Clinical supervision:

  • SayPro performs regular clinical supervision of the staff, performing counselling (one-on-one or group supervision, clients’ files review-Data review, in-session observation, multi-disciplinary team meeting and case discussion).

SayPro Mental Health Patient documentation:

  • SayPro sets up the standard patient file provided and ensure it is updated regularly and kept according to confidentiality standards. Collaborate closely with all the medical team, keeping Mental Health patient psychological records separate from the medical history.

  • SayPro ensures a proper data collection system, establishes a documented process on cases, maintains strict protocols for confidentiality and consent, and ensures that data protection protocols are respected.

  • participate when possible in the Mental Health PSS working group to share experiences, increase awareness of the type of program, and create a meaningful relationship with the key actor.
