Foreword from Strategic Partnership Manager

SayPro has traveled a long journey where we have seen so many young people changing the way they think about themselves. We have seen young people becoming independent without relying on their families for survival.

We have seen SayPro strengthening families where some of the beneficiaries were separated from their families. Today SayPro has empowered thousands of youth from Limpopo and Gauteng.

We acknowledge all the partners who have filled the puzzle where they have contributed with money, resources, and time towards the organization. On behalf of SayPro beneficiaries, we are very grateful to still be your partners. I am very excited to be reporting about the activities that took place in Marketing for the year 2015.

Introduction

SayPro is a youth development organization established in 2005 with the aim of creating a culture of inclusion and expands access to ICT-based work and life readiness skills, including technical and vocational skills, for employment, decent jobs, and entrepreneurship among disadvantaged and vulnerable young people aged 18 – 35 years in South Africa.  SayPro is a non-profit organization that depends on sourcing funding for its survival and we do this by proposing to different institutions for help such as government, private, individuals, and corporate. Since 2005, the organization has been practicing different marketing strategies that did help the organization from one level to another.

SayPro introduced online Marketing where we were creating posts, tender, funding opportunities, and southern Africa youth academy and we posted it on SayPro online marketing channels such as Facebook, Linked In, and websites with aim of reaching a large number of beneficiaries.

SayPro has gone through a great height of challenges one of them is to answer to the community what are we doing, where are we, where are those people we are claiming we have empowered.

SayPro is a non-profit organization that depends in sourcing funding for its survival and we do this by proposing to different institutions for help such as government, private, individuals, and corporate. Since 2005, the organization has been practicing different marketing strategies that it did help the organization from one level to another.

Proposal Development 

SayPro as a non-profit organization was depending on funding opportunities and sponsorships for survival to make sure that the programs run accordingly for the sake of changing the way young people think about themselves in the townships of Diepsloot and Daveyton. With the little we get from companies we managed to raise funds by sourcing donation and money from companies. Operating 2 sites was never simple but we tried as an organization to raise funds that can run both centers.

We were funded to do a carpentry project in 2015, the project went well but we decided to cut it off because the materials were too expensive and it was affecting the organization negatively. In 2015 started implementing SEVISSA project that was funded by Nelson Mandela Children’s Funds which we were in the second year of the 5 years project. We were then funded by the Randwater foundation to implement a Computer training project for the period of 1 year. We also implemented skills development program funded by the Department of Social Development.

National Arts Council funded SayPro to implement a youth arts and culture festival in the township of Diepsloot Arts and culture trust funded southern Africa Youth Project to implement arts and culture activities in the township of Diepsloot. 2015 was a good year for southern Africa Youth Project as we were implementing the computer training project funded by Anglo Gold Ashante for the period of 1 year. The last project we implemented in 2015 was the arts and culture project funded by the National Lottery Commission for the period of 1 year.

Visitors

In 2015 the Marketing team was drafting the marketing strategy on how we are going to do in sourcing funding and donation for the organisation. The strategic planning was to assist the team to set targets and after the financial year-end we review the targets and see what we managed to reach.

Donations

SayPro as a non-profit organization was depending on funding opportunities, sponsorships, and donations for survival to make sure that the programs runs accordingly for the sake of changing the way young people think about themselves in the townships of Diepsloot and Daveyton. SayPro received donations that assisted SayPro to run programs, more special furniture because at that time we needed it most.  In 2015 SayPro received the following donation from the following donations.

We received donations of furniture from different companies that assisted the organizations ( Diepsloot and Daveyton) to empower young people.

Highlights

2016 was a good year for SayPro as we managed to form new relationships and maintain it with different companies such as Merchard bank. SayPro received donations from different companies that assisted SayPro as an organization to help those in need in the township of Diepsloot.

SayPro in 2016 also ventured into a carpentry project with the aim of sourcing funding for the organization where we partnered. We were focusing much on writing proposals and requesting donations for survival though people donating old stuff caused the organization to spend more, for example, they use to donate for an old printing machine that is old and we had to take it to people who can fix it and pay money. In 2015 we attended many meetings with the aim of forming partnerships with people or companies that will assist SayPro organization in empowering them with skills that will help them find employment and other opportunities.

Remarks

Marketing team would like to thank the funders for making SayPro work easy to drive the mission of changing the way young people think about themselves. We also like to thank the CEO Mr. Neftaly Malatjie and SayPro Manager Mr. Clifford Legodi for believing in SayPro and for the support, they give SayPro on the daily basis. We also like to thank SayPro beneficiaries because if it was not for them they would not be us/the Marketing team. Lastly is to thank SayPro colleagues you are amazing people your encouragements and advice helped SayPro to be where we are today we really appreciate it.
