Learning is acquiring new or modifying existing knowledge, behaviours, skills, values, or preferences and may involve synthesizing different types of information. Learning experiences vary from time to time and from place to place. Learning in this information age is quite involving and resourceful. Learning is both an individual and a group activity. People learn by themselves, and by working things through or talking with others.
1. Some learners may not be confident at learning on their own, or with others so they may benefit from support that builds their confidence.
2. The right support can help to focus and accelerate learning, making it more rewarding and motivating.
3. There are sometimes barriers that get in the way of efficient learning, and support can help people to overcome the difficulties.
“Educators must help learners develop their abilities to grow into full, rich and responsible personalities. Educators can challenge them…so they can be creatively productive in their own fields for their own good and for the good of all.”
