It was an action packed weekend as our entrepreneurship club members took part in school leadership camp. South Africa’s unemployment rate came in at 27.7 percent in the third quarter of 2017, the same as in the previous two quarters and remaining the highest rate in 13 years. The settlement area known as Diepsloot was established in 1995 by what was at the time known as the Rand provincial administration as a temporary (informal) shelter for people who had initially been evicted from informal settlements in Honeydew, Sevenfontein and Alexandra. Mpho Baby has been with Southern Africa Youth Project for 3 months attending training programs in Life skills, Wholesale & Retail and End User Computing. Through our Job center Mpho was fortunate enough to find a job upon her completion of the training programs. Students in Coding are Graduating

Southern Africa Youth Project in partnership with Accenture has been hosting a coding session on Saturdays with high schools learners from our 3 schools. The sessions were held at Accenture Offices in Woodmead. Rabaso tho Combined School. Itirele and Diepsloot West Secondary The program has been so successful to the level that learners would continue to learn their sessions at our branch in Diepsloot. Southern Africa Youth Project is so proud to announce that after a long-term commitment from these learners They will be graduating. We are very grateful of the partnership we are having with Accenture on their employee volunteering scheme.

Meet Anathi Mseleni, our former beneficiary and now a facilitator in Introduction into Programing.

Like many, Anathi grew up in Diepsloot  a township with limited opportunities but through the help of Southern Africa Youth Project his life changed. Anathi matriculated in 2015 and by then he had not even registered at university and he could not even enroll at a collage due to financial strains which  for many young people means that there is no hope. For the first two months Anathi searched around for training and employment opportunities but was unfortunate to find any. Jostinah Bopape joined Southern Africa Youth Project in January 2017 where in which she enrolled for Life skills where she learnt ( Personal Development, Goal setting, self awareness, career pursuit and CV writing.
