Like many, Anathi grew up in Diepsloot a township with limited opportunities but through the help of Southern Africa Youth Project his life changed.
Anathi matriculated in 2015 and by then he had not even registered at university and he could not even enroll at a collage due to financial strains which for many young people means that there is no hope. For the first two months Anathi searched around for training and employment opportunities but was unfortunate to find any.
Late Fabruary 2015 Anathi came across an advert on our Facebook page inviting young people for a learner-ship oportunity in End User Computing. He then applied passed the interview where he emphasized how passionate he was about IT and how a chance to be a part of that program would contribute to his life.
Anathi enrolled for End User Computing for two months and passed top of his class, which opened an even bigger opportunity for him to further enroll for another training program in “Introduction into Programming”. He is now a full-time employee of Zubuntu Management as a sales representative and he volunteers as a part-time facilitator in System Development at Southern Africa Youth Project. He has also developed 3 games and two software programs that are now used by our branches.
It through young people like Anathi that we at Southern Africa Youth Project continue to “change the way the youth think about themselves.
